However, for your convenience, we will go through all aspects of implant treatment on our first consultation, discussing the various options in relation to your existing condition.
This consultation is where you will be introduced to your implant surgeon. Your medical history and drug history will be checked. He will then proceed to look at your teeth and advise on general options as to what kind of implants and how many implants will be required. In advanced cases, he will also discuss how your mouth can be fully reconstructed. A rough verbal estimate can be given at this stage.
Should you want a more definite quotation, x-rays will need to be taken in order to determine the bone level present. In cases of failing teeth, it is essential that both small X-rays and a panoramic X-ray view are done in order to ascertain the specific type of implant system to be used and also whether a bone graft procedure needs to be done.
If you wish to go ahead with treatment, moulds of your mouth will be taken and an appointment booked for either implant treatment or further implant assessment in the instance of complex cases.
An implant assessment is required for complex cases. At this stage, a full dental checkup will be performed where the complexities of your individual bite and the load-bearing status of your remaining teeth will be examined. Sometimes we will be unable to give a full quote at this stage as some time will be needed for planning and measurements once the study models of your mouth are available. A comprehensive treatment plan should follow in the post indicating all costs, stages and bone augmentation procedures (if necessary) will be discussed and once you are happy with this, an agreement can be signed and we can proceed to the implant placement stage.
Implant consultation & assessment conducted in one appointment.
This carries a fee of £95.
As part of the implant process, you will be asked whether you would like to have a temporary restoration. This can either be a bridge or denture. Some patients already have an existing bridge or denture. In the instance where you think you would like a temporary restoration whilst the healing phase of the implant is taking place, please remember to discuss the options and cost of such treatment with your implant surgeon.
