Mr. Al-Gholmy is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon based at Queen Alexandra University Hospitals NHS Trust.
Mr Al-Gholmy provides advanced dental implant treatment at Alton Dental, offering patients long-term, functional, and aesthetic solutions for missing teeth. With over two decades of experience in oral and facial implantology, he delivers tailored treatment plans ranging from single-tooth replacement to full-mouth rehabilitation. His expertise includes complex cases requiring bone grafting, sinus lifting, and pre-prosthetic reconstruction, all carried out to the highest clinical standards.
He qualified as a dentist in 1994 and was awarded Fellowship of the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1998. He later completed his Medical Degree at the University of Southampton in 2004 and went on to successfully complete the Intercollegiate Board Examination in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, leading to his appointment as a Consultant.
His clinical sub-specialties include orthognathic (jaw realignment) surgery, skin cancer management, maxillofacial trauma, and the rehabilitation of dental and facial structures following cancer treatment or traumatic injury. He leads the Oral and Facial Implantology service at Queen Alexandra Hospital, providing advanced implantology solutions for oncology patients from Portsmouth and Southampton University Hospitals.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Mr Al-Gholmy serves as Clinical Director for Intermediate Minor Oral Surgery across the Thames Valley and Berkshire regions. He is recognised by the General Medical Council (GMC) as a trainer in all aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and holds a Certificate in Postgraduate Medical Education. As both an Educational and Clinical Supervisor, he plays an active role in the training and mentorship of Dental Core Trainees and Specialty Registrars in Oral Surgery and OMFS.
In his NHS and private practices, Mr Al-Gholmy offers a comprehensive range of oral and maxillofacial surgical procedures. These include the management of complex extractions, impacted wisdom teeth, exposure of ectopic canines, dental and facial implantology, as well as reconstructive procedures involving bone grafting and sinus augmentation. His clinical approach is built on a foundation of surgical precision, multidisciplinary collaboration, and a commitment to patient-centred care.
